Providing new homes
As a community-based housing association, we play a vital role in meeting the growing demand for affordable, quality, and safe housing.
Each year we purchase homes from private developers and let them at affordable and social rent levels or sell them as shared ownership. We also buy land to design and build affordable homes ourselves. Our spend in 2023/24 on new properties was £14.4m on 64 new homes, of which 18 were affordable rent.
We have four schemes underway that will create 111 new properties for affordable rent and sale over the next two years.
We’re also negotiating a new partnership with Berkeley Homes to acquire the affordable housing on two sites being built in our East London heartlands.
Case study:
Architect achieves homeownership at Regent Place
One of our customers rented for 20 years before achieving her dream of becoming a homeowner with a one-bedroom apartment.
“I never thought I could own a home in London, but then I discovered the Shared Ownership options at Regent Place. I was amazed that I could afford a 25% share of my home. Buying through Gateway was a brilliant experience, and using Shared Ownership was much easier than I expected.
The best part of my new home is the gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows and the balcony, which I can’t wait to use in the summer. The area is beautiful, close to Victoria Park and perfect for relaxing weekends, with traditional Victorian-style terraces nearby.”
