Making a difference in our communities
We go beyond just providing and managing homes. We invest heavily in our communities to support our residents and other local people to meet their aspirations and fulfil their potential. Throughout the year, we held a range of events to raise money for our Charity of the Year, St Mungo's, which works to end homelessness and improve the lives of those in housing need in London and South England. As a social housing provider, we share their goals of ending homelessness.
We’ve also continued to support smaller local charities, community initiatives and events, especially when they can benefit residents in our communities.

Supporting our communities in London
This year, we started working with The Passage which is London’s largest voluntary sector resource centre for homeless and vulnerable people. As a result, we’ve been able to provide accommodation to some of the people who attend their centre, in our homes for intermediate rent.
We also worked with partner organisations to provide affordable rented accommodation for their employees at our intermediate rent accommodation at Northwick Park Village in North London. We’re now offering additional services at this accommodation, such as internet, TV and cleaning of rooms.
Supporting our communities in East Hertfordshire
We fund a part-time Community Engagement Officer through the Community Voluntary Service (CVS) for Broxbourne and East Herts. This valuable post enables us to deliver community projects and support voluntary groups, generating over £45,000 of additional funding.
In 2018/19 we:
- Funded our seventh Green Team, an employment and skills project funded by Network Homes and run by community charity Groundwork.
- Supported school holiday activities across East Herts.
- Provided funding for Future Living, Hertford, an award-winning registered charity and an independent service for people recovering from addiction and domestic abuse.
- Sponsored Hertford’s annual carnival.
- Sponsored Ware Joggers 10th Anniversary fun run which raised £8,000 for East Herts Air Ambulance and Ware Southern Maltings.
- Supported Welly Trail in Ware as part of Ware in Bloom.
Network Homes staff hit new fundraising heights at the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge for St Mungo’s
In September 2018, forty members of staff from Network Homes completed the 24 mile Yorkshire Three Peaks, raising over £20,000 for homelessness charity St Mungo’s! Throughout the hilly journey, they tackled 5,200ft of ascents, while also battling the Yorkshire wind and rain.
St Mungo’s is a charity that aims to end homelessness and rebuild lives with their three pillars – recovery, emergency services and accommodation. As a social housing provider, we share St Mungo’s goals of ending homelessness.
Gabriel Codjoe, Director of Housing and Three Peaks Challenger said:
“This was a really tough challenge for all of us to overcome but it was worth it in the end to raise money for St Mungo’s. It was great to see staff from all over Network come together. Some great new working relationships and friendships have been created from this challenge, which will benefit our staff and residents through improved working together.”
